New Insights on the Thermal Decomposition of Ammonium Perchlorate from Studies on Very Large Single Crystals

Abstract

Surprisingly, it appears that past studies on the thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate have not included measurements on relatively large single crystals. As described below, studies on crystals larger than 2 or 3 mm provide new insights on the thermal decomposition processes in these and other materials. Also, the information obtained from large crystals obviously applies to microcrystals or powders.
