The Influence of Oxygen on the Current Potential Characteristics of Zn/- and Zno/Electrolyte Contacts

Abstract

With regard to corrosion phenomena of Zn in solutions containing 0,1 M borax(pH 9,2),potentiodynamic current potential characteristics and open circuit potentials of rotating disk electrodes made ofZn and ZnO have been investigated.Measurements hale been carried out at a constant t rperature of 25°C under different conditions of Zn++ concentration, 02 partial prsure and rotation speed.It is observed, that below Zn saturation and without dissolved oxygen corroding Zn electrodes behave like mete electrodes in equilibrium with ZnO,and with Zn++ saturation like pure n-conducting ZnO electrodes. Experimental details were described in other papers (1),(2),(3),(4).
