One of the key aspects of the development of producer power has been the relationship between the oil producing countries and the less developed countries of the world. The latter have been severely affected by the increases in the price of oil and one might aspect a degree of antagonism on their part towards the member states of OPEC. Such antagonism has not, in general, been in evidence. Quite the contrary, there is now increasing evidence for some kind of economic and political alliance between these groups of countries.
