Excitations in Dilute 3He–4He Mixtures

The energy spectrum of elementary excitations in dilute He3-He4 mixtures is investigated using a Feynman type of wave function. It is found that the He3 energy spectrum lies below the phonon-roton energy spectrum and exhibits a minimum near the roton minimum. Reinterpretation of their experimental results by Sobolev and Esel’son confirms this description of the He3 spectrum. Some consequences of this spectrum are discussed.
