Changes in EEG and in the Activity of the Whole Cervical Vagus Upon Application of Sex Hormones

In the course of experimental work carried out with cats we have observed for years on end that the periods of estrus in animals take place with increased amplitude of the tonic vagal impulses. This fact suggested to us the idea to study the changes in the bioelectrical activity of the cervical vagus and in different cortical and subcortical structures at various periods of the reproductive cycle (pregnancy, parturition, suckling) as well as in coital and precoital states.
