Abstract

The stimulating effect of the thyreostimulating hormone (TSH) on the thyroid gland has been reported in literature. According to some authors, the mechanism of this effect is realized through increased oxidizing process in thyroid cells, which suggests its participations in the energetic mechanism of these cells. Concerning other organs its possible effect on lipid metabolism could be noted by the blood cholesterol level. There are no publications about TSH effect on the bioenergetic processes in organism. However, the increased level of TSH in blood of hypothyroid patients and during treatment with thyrestatic drugs is well known.
