Nocturnality and Diurnality

An Ecological Interpretation of These Two Modes of Life by an Analysis of the Higher Vertebrate Fauna in Tropical Forest Ecosystems
  • Pierre Charles-Dominique

Abstract

Nocturnal and diurnal life styles have profound implications for the behavior and neurophysiology of vertebrates. Moreover, in numerous animal groups these two modes of life coincide with taxonomic subdivisions, thereby indicating the roles that they may have played during the course of vertebrate evolution.
