Phosphine-Nickel Complexes as Catalysts for Cross-Coupling Reaction of Grignard Reagents with Vinylic, Aromatic and Heteroaromatic Halides

Abstract

Recently, Corriu and Masse,1 and we2 independently reported the selective carbon-carbon bond formation by cross-coupling of Grignard reagents with olefinic and with aromatic halides in the presence of nickel complexes as catalysts. Here we briefly summarize our own work using various kinds of phosphine-nickel complexes, and consider possible effects of phosphine ligands on the catalytic activity of the nickel atom in both the cross-coupling and secondary reactions.
