Current Problems in Membrane Biogenesis

Abstract

Cellular membranes differ widely in their morphology, the special functions they perform and even in their molecular constituents. Nonetheless, there are some general principles which pertain to all membranes whether they be of prokaryotic or eukaryotic origin and these need to be taken into account in any discussion of biogenesis.
