The Attachment of the Bacterial Chromosome to the Cell Membrane

  • P. Dworsky
  • M. Schaechter

We would like to pose three questions:
  1. 1)

Is the bacterial chromosome attached to the membrane?

  2. 2)

If so, is it attached at a specific portion of the membrane?

  3. 3)

Is it attached by a specific region of the DNA?

While definitive answers cannot be provided for these questions, we think that the available evidence suggest useful strategies for future work.
