Phospholipid Monolayers—As a Prototype of Biological Membranes

Abstract

One of the fundamental features of the theory of the origin of life on the Earth put forward by Academician A. I. Oparin is the assertion that phase-separated multi-molecular systems of organic substances should necessarily appear in the evolutionary process. This provided possibilities for further chemical and biological evolution of individual open systems, their natural selection, growth, and division (1).
