Aromatic and Alkaromatic Chlorocarbons

  • Manuel Ballester
  • Santiago Olivella

Abstract

Chemical exploration of the chlorocarbons was initiated by the almost simultaneous discovery of three chlorocompounds. Perchlorobenzene,† the simplest aromatic chlorocarbon, was reported by Julin in 1821 [2], following the announcement of the synthesis of perchloroethane and perchloroethylene by Faraday [3, 4–6].
