Abstract

Different classes of phosphors sensitive to the optical and thermal influence of IR light, and also those directly excited hy IR, are synthesized and investigated. These include phosphors previously excited with UV (e.g. ZnS:Cu,Co), those showing steady-state luminescence under IR illumination (e.g. ZnS, CdS:Ag,Ni), and the cooperative excitation of rare-earth ions (e.g. Yb+3-Er+3) Principal characteristics of these phosphors are reported.
