On the Quantum Losses at the Ruby Luminescence Excitation

Abstract

This paper reports studies of the ruby luminescence quantum spectral distribution, η(λ), and the quantum efficiency at resonance excitation, η(R). The n(R) has been measured over the range 80–300 K. Investigations of η(λ) in the vacuum ultraviolet region revealed an intense activator luminescence band in the region 210–140 nm, called the K-band. At 300 K the maximum value of η(k) reached 0.95.
