Influence of the Charge Transfer on Eu3+ Luminescence Spectra

Abstract

Spectra of Eu3+ have heen studied in some alkaline earth oxides and in oxides of cerium, thorium, hafnium and zirconium. The spectra are unusual in the high intensity of the 5Do7Fo transitions, and the vibronic satellites of 5DO7F1 Peculiarities of the spectra of these luminescence centers have heen accounted for hy the asymmetrical environment of the Eu3+ ions, where the asymmetry is due to different polarizabilities of the ligands.
