Photoluminescence of Color Centers in Alkaline Earth Fluoride Crystals

Abstract

The photoluminescence of CaF2 and SrF2 doped with monovalent alkali metals was investigated after subtractive coloration. The predominant centers induced by X-ray irradiation are M-centers. The perturbation of the centers by the alkali ion causes a change in absorption and emission energies but no influence on the orientation of the dipoles is observed.
