Photoluminescence of T-Centers in Potassium Halide Crystals

Abstract

After electrolytical coloration of the Pb2+, Sn2+ and Ge2+ doped alkali halide crystals (concentration ~ 5×1016 lons/cm3) the characteristic Pb2+, Sn2+ and Ge2+ bands in the absorption spectrum disappear and T-bands (associated with T-centers) appear. The T-centers are luminescent. This paper reports some characteristic properties of the excitation, emission and polarization spectra of the T-centers in potassium halide crystals.
