Spontaneous and Stimulated Emission from Excitons at High Concentration

Abstract

In this paper a short review of exciton spectra at high concentrations is given. Arguments in favor of the formation of biexcitons are discussed. Different effects for blue and red shifts of absorption and emission lines are discussed. It is further shown that excitons do not emit stimulated emission unless the emission and absorption are displaced from each other. Biexcitons can emit stimulated radiation. The competition and the stimulated emission are discussed for the exciton-exciton and the exciton-LO phonon effects.
