Image Reproduction by a Line Raster Process
The last part of Chapter 2 reviewed a number of psychophysical experiments concerned with sampled imagery, i.e., imagery with a raster as an integral part of its composition. At the end of that section we quoted from F. T. Thompson’s experiment. He was concerned with removing the line raster features from a television display in order that the viewer could (and also chose to) move closer to see more detail without seeing the objectionable lines.
