Abstract

During the past 15 years, there has been an increasing level of activity in the study of the catalysis of organic reactions by micelles [1–3]. In the course of these studies, a number of types of reactions have come under scrutiny, several of which are discussed in some detail in later pages of this volume. Our own efforts have centered largely on certain reactions which involve carbonium ions either as substrates or reaction intermediates.
