Most of the major metabolic products of catecholamines and indole-amines are now well known. They include 4-hydroxy-3-methoxymandelic acid (HMMA), homovanillic acid (HVA), normetadrenaline, metadren-aline, 3-methoxytyramine, and 4-methoxyphenylglycol (HMPG). Other minor metabolic products have also been shown: 3,4-dihydroxymandelic acid (DHMA), 3,4-dihydroxyphenylglycol (DHPG), N-methyladrenaline, and N-metamethyladrenaline (Fig. 8).
