Integrated Electrical Activity of Speech Musculature as an Indicator of Verbal Thought Processes
Despite the fact that modern electromyographic devices make it possible to record very weak muscle action potentials, analysis of electromyograms involves great difficulties, particularly when muscle potentials are detected by means of surface (cutaneous) electrodes. Recorded here is a summated electromyogram, representing the result of excitation interference from the numerous muscle fibers which may be in different phases of excitation and generate impulses of various intensities and frequencies.
