Abstract
It is one of the most fundamental and elementary experiences in physics that all macroscopic bodies, especially the stars and apparently also the visible part of the cosmos, have a history. This means first that the state of any macroscopic body changes irreversibly in time, so that its state depends on its whole history. Moreover, it means that there exists one well-defined direction of time in the cosmos, from past into future. The irreversible changes of the cosmic bodies take place relative to this direction.
