Molecular Scattering of Light in Gases

Abstract

By using the photographic method of measurement described in Chapter III, Sec. 11, Cabannes [303] first made measurements of the absolute intensity of scattered light in argon and measurement of the relative intensity in some other gases and vapors of organic substances. Later, Daure [199], in Cabannes’ laboratory, made absolute measurements in vapors of ethyl chloride, and Vaucouleurs [56] made measurements in argon, air, and ethyl chloride.
