Abstract
Systematic investigations of the influence of a second gas component on the mechanism and kinetics of reaction diffusion, and on the properties of the resulting reaction products provide the possibility, at a given stage, of separating from the numerous systems of “metal — two chemically active gases” type, those systems in which the reaction products are compounds with a predominantly ionic component of the bond forces. This group of systems has common relationships and a common physicochemical basis for the creation of a theoretical treatment of the experimentally observed relationships of the variation in properties of alloyed compounds produced under various thermodynamic ally equivalent conditions. The variation in properties of the reaction products is reflected in the diffusion characteristics of these compounds.
