Abstract
Appraisers have both a legal and an ethical responsibility toward their clients. The relationship between an appraiser and a client is not based on the principle of caveat emptor (let the buyer beware), but instead is founded on confidence and trust. It is as important to the appraiser as it is to the client that the appraiser holds a reputation for being professional and scrupulous.
