Abstract

Growth induced surface roughness is a common phenomenon which apart from its practical importance is interesting because a generally nonlinear dynamics transforms external noise into scale invariant surface fluctuations. It is demonstrated, that investigating macroscopic surface deformations in response to deterministic inho-mogeneities of the growth rate provides valuable information on this dynamics.
