The determination of rate constants and mechanisms for collisioninduced vibrational energy flow in poliatomic molecules is of basic and practical interest. Such informations are used as a guide and test for approximate teoretical models in the prediction of potential surfaces for collisional interactions. Moreover, they can be used to evaluate the possibility of influencing the course of a chemical reaction or developing new lasers.
