Abstract

Correlated approaches (as in title) have been used to assess mechanisms of metal- or metalloid-induced cell injury following in vivo (usually rat) exposure to these agents. Relationships have been studied between indium- and thallium-induced perturbations of hepatic haem metabolism and associated changes in e.r.* and mitochondrial membrane structure. Seemingly such structural changes largely mediate the inhibitions of cytochrome P-450-dependent enzyme activities observed following acute administration of various metals.
