Abstract

This paper presents a discussion and analysis of econometric modeling techniques commonly used in energy analysis. The discussion will focus on the general characteristics of econometric energy models, highlight these characteristics by contrasting them with the general characteristics of other types of energy modeling methodologies, and present two examples of econometric energy models.

The views expressed in this paper are those of the author and not necessarily those of the U.S. Department of Energy. The author wishes to thank T. Takayama for his valuable comments, however, all errors are those of the author.
