Abstract

Immune complexes (IC) have heen detected in the blood of patients with multiple sclerosis (l, 2, 3), Guillain-Barré syndrome (l, 3), optic neuritis (l), subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (4), and amvotrophic lateral sclerosis (5). However, little is known of the pathogenic role of these IC, the nature of their antigens (Ag), the reasons for their occurrence or their possible clinical significance. Some information can be obtained from observations made in systemic or non-neurological diseases with circulating IC.
