Abstract
Soil samples have so far been taken from about 200 localities, 80% of which are south of the 60° latitude i.e. “through” Uppsala. The samples were taken at random from various soil types and crops, and cultivated and natural habitats. Longidorus elongatus was found in 11 localities and L. leptocephalus (large form) in one, most of these in light soils in southern Sweden. Xiphinema diversicaudatum was recorded in southwest Sweden from land in which potatoes were growing; this constitutes the first record of this genus in Sweden.
