Abstract

Langmuir probes have been used widely in the measurement of plasma parameters in gas discharges for almost forty years [1].Although Langmuir probes have been described in hundreds of papers, at the present time there is still not available a general theory that makes it possible to interpret probe characteristics under arbitrary conditions. The difficulties are especially marked when probes are used to determine the parameters of a plasma in a magnetic field.
