Abstract
The fully developed pyramidal cell possesses a complex system of branching dendrites receiving excitation at various levels and, without doubt, from various sources. Figure 114 is a scheme of the connections of a pyramidal cell in layer III based on the study of a large number of sections. For the sake of convenience the pyramidal cell can be divided into five parts, each of which forms connections with surrounding and distant neurons. The material of the preceding chapter (Figs. 83–95) can be briefly summarized.
