Abstract
The growth and professionalism of the counseling field as well as the increasing emphasis on accountability has led to an expanding need for counselors to document and substantiate the value of their work. A survey of administrators of mental health agencies indicated that “ability to write clearly, concisely, and in a professional style” was one of the three most important skills they sought in masters level counselors (Cook, Berman, Genco, Repka, & Shrider, 1986, p. 150).
