Abstract
Inference and problem solving systems (PSS) may be broken down into three components:
-
1.
a data base describing the specific area of the problem to be solved and specifying the initial situation as well as the objective to be attained;
-
2.
a set of decision rules which are operators for situation transformation (change, breakdown);
-
3.
a control procedure that guides the solution and specifies at each stage what must be done next.
