Crystal-Structure Data as a Tool for Interpreting LAXS (Large Angle X-ray Scattering) Studies of Amorphous Inorganic Compounds

Abstract

The building of a structural model for amorphous solids requires the extensive knowledge of the geometry of the compound studied. The collection of numerous structural data from various sources (x-ray diffraction, spectroscopic methods, conformational calculations…) may be a promising method to obtain this preliminary knowledge. This is illustrated by the Large Angle X-ray Scattering study of several amorphous compounds chosen in different fields of chemistry: V2O5, (adenosine-triphosphate) (H2O)4 Mn(II)Na2, (cytidine) (glycyl-L-leucine)Cu(II)(H2O)3, Cu(dithiooxamide)(H2O), Ni4(dithiooxamide)5 (H2O)0.25, MM′(EDTA)(H2O)4. 2H2O with [MM′] = [CoNi] or [NiNi].
