Abstract
RIAIP (Rome Interactive Astronomical Image Processing) is a software system developed at the Institute of Astronomy of the Rome University, pole of the ASTRONET network, to provide an efficient tool of interactive analysis for astronomical images obtained from ground-based and from orbiting observatories.
The software is written in FORTRAN 77 and has been developed for the DEC VAX computers, under VMS operating system, with DEC VS11 (512×512 pixels) image subsystems.
The main RIAIP features are high modularity and strong interactivity, driven by menus; an usable log-file is also available allowing modes of system use other then the fully interactive one. The main algorithms needed for astronomical images processing are yet implemented and, due to the high system modular structure, new and user defined applications can be easily added.
