Abstract
There are substantial differences in the lifestyles of women today as compared with a generation ago. Fewer women are viewing marriage and motherhood as the central goals of their entire lives. Many are marrying later and having fewer or no children. In light of these changes, it seems appropriate to reexamine some concepts about femininity and feminine identity, as well as their relationship to reproduction.
