Abstract

Light scattering techniques have proven to be a powerful tool in studying physicochemical properties of thin, free, liquid films. Both, time averaged (1,2) and dynamic (3,4,5,6) light scattering experiments have been carried out on such systems.

  10. There is some ambiguity in the nomenclature in literature on the term bending mode; sometimes it is also called stretching mode (e.g. in ref. 6). We feel that it would be more appropriate to attach the term stretching mode to longitudinal fluctuations and not to curvature waves.
