Abstract
Certain growing plant organs bend towards the light when exposed to asymmetric illumination. The phenomenology of this - positive-phototropism in lower plants will be our main topic. The implicit aim, however, is an analysis leading towards the molecular understanding of the reaction chain. It is likely that on one hand the initial part of the phototropic reaction chain is common to several other photobiological processes (photomorphoses) and that on the other hand, the bending reaction may be common to other tropistic responses such as geotropism.
