Abstract
For many years, mongrel dogs have been widely used for physiologic and pharmacologic studies of uric acid excretion. Despite the abundance of excretion data, relatively little is known about urate metabolism in these animals beyond the fact that there is an abundance of uricase activity. In order to examine this question, we conducted three short-term turnover studies in a trained mongrel dog.
