Abstract
Studies of the major histocompatibility system (HLA) and of twins have strengthened the current view that juvenile, insulin-dependent diabetes (JIDD) is pathogenetically different from adult onset, insulin-independent diabetes. Even for JIDD the HLA and twin studies suggest heterogeneity.
