Modulation Method for Studying Thermal Expansion

  • Chapter
Thermal Expansion 6

Abstract

At the present time methods for measuring dilatation of solids10-10 are known with a sensitivity of the order of 10-10 cm and even higher. However, difficulties in studying thermal expansion at high temperatures are associated with the instability of a sample rather than with the insufficient sensitivity. Therefore, one has to be content with the determination of average values of the thermal expansion coefficient within wide temperature intervals.
