Abstract
The applicability of radiative electron capture (REC) as a means for investigating the electron momentum distribution of target electrons in atomic collisions is discussed. A model based on an impulse approximation is used to predict the position, shape, and cross section for the REC spectral feature. Experimental results obtained for proton, lithium, carbon, and oxygen projectiles incident on various gaseous targets are presented.
