Abstract
The surprising discovery by Tashjian and associates that thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH) released prolactin from cloned rat pituitary cells in culture (1) was quickly followed by reports that TRH also stimulated prolactin release when injected intravenously in humans (2,3). These findings led to studies in our laboratory which focused on the possible role of TRH as a physiological regulator of prolactin secretion in man. Aspects of this work form the basis of the present report.
