Abstract

There is much in the developing field of medical computing that is relevant to the care and treatment of oncological diseases. The three particular things that were emphasised by Mr. Raven this morning were research, screening and patient records. Computers are relevant to all three; they are also relevant to Dr. Roe’s statement that we have no option but to wait and watch since there should be appropriate computer systems included in this waiting and watching. The setting up of computer systems requires the patience, perseverance and tedious attention to detail that was shown by Marie and Pierre Curie when they isolated radium from pitchblend.
