Abstract
When the benefits of using a computer in physiological research first became apparent at RNPL, we were faced with a choice between a data link to a large, central computer or a small computer on site. As our problems were mainly of the type involving a lot of data and a little computation, we chose the small computer. The specific machine was a LINC-8, manufactured by DEC.
