Abstract
The requirement for detection and accurate determination of increasingly small quantities of pesticide residues in animal and plant parts is forcing the residue chemist to explore every possible means of physical detection which is applicable to submicrogram quantities of material. The use of fluorometric methods is of value in this field because it is possible to measure accurately quantities of material which are onlv a tenth, a hundredth, or even a thousandth of the smallest amounts measurable by classical colorimetric procedures.
This paper was presented, in part, before Section C2 of the XVIIIth International Congress of Pure and Applied Chemistry, Montreal, Canada, August, 1961.
