Abstract
The vast majority of Spanish nouns form their plural in one of the following three ways:
Method | Main type of noun | Example of plural |
Add -s | Ending in an unstressed vowel Many foreign words ending in a consonant | las casas los chalets los shows |
Add -es | Spanish (not foreign) nouns ending in a consonant other than -s Nouns ending in a stressed vowel + -s Many nouns ending in a stressed vowel | las flores los ingleses los iranées |
No change | Nouns already ending with an unstressed vowel + -s Families (people or things) | las crisis los virus los Blanco los Ford |
